REVIEW

Global Equity Markets started the new year on a high note. Back to back gains pushed the iShares MSCI All Country World Index towards the upper boundary of its upward trend channel. Strong uptrend remains intact. If the year-long upward trend channel is valid, the upper boundary can act as a short-term resistance. There is no chart pattern that would suggest a trend reversal at this point.

Every week Tech Charts Global Equity Markets report features some of the well-defined, mature classical chart patterns under a lengthy watchlist and the chart pattern breakout signals that took place during that week. Global Equity Markets report covers single stocks from developed and emerging markets, ETF’s and global equity indices. The report starts with a review section that highlights the important chart developments on global equity benchmarks. This blog post features one of several great chart analysis that were highlighted in the review section from the latest Global Equity Markets report.

Equity indices of the South East Asia Emerging Markets are showing strength. The Philippines Stock Exchange index cleared its 2 year-long horizontal resistance at 8,125 levels and reached all-time highs. Since then, the index pulled back to the broken resistance which is now acting as a strong support. As long as 8,125 level holds, we can expect the Philippine equity market to remain strong and trend higher.

REVIEW

Global Equity Markets continue to remain in a steady uptrend with the iShares MSCI All Country World Index ETF trending higher in a year-long trend channel. The ETF is also holding above the steep 19 month-long trend line. At this point, there is no clear chart pattern that would suggest a top reversal. Uptrend is intact with the minor support standing at 69.4 levels.

REVIEW

India equity benchmarks have been in a steady uptrend. For the past few months the BSE Sensex index and other equity benchmarks has been in a sideways consolidation. These short-term consolidations can prove to be bullish continuation chart patterns if resolved on the upside. On the long-term chart of BSE Sensex Index, 30K levels continue to form strong support. Long-term uptrend remains intact. Below I featured some of the bullish chart setups on India equity ETFs that are listed on the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange.

REVIEW

Another Emerging Asia equity index broke out to new all-time highs. Philippines SE Composite index breached the 8,125 level after moving in a 2 year-long, wide trading range between 6,500 and 8,125 levels. The equity benchmark has been in a steady uptrend for the past year. Last two week's price action cleared the strong horizontal resistance and pushed the index to uncharted territory. Once a strong resistance, 8,125 level now acts as support. As long as the index holds above that level we will expect positive momentum to continue in the Philippine Stock Exchange. An efficient way to take advantage of the recent bullish technical development in the Emerging Asian country is through iShares MSCI Philippines ETF (EPHE.K) that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The chart below reviews the iShares MSCI Philippines ETF.
